dwell AW12 - sneak preview

Last week I went along to the dwell AW12 press show and it certainly did not disappoint!

Set in the very beautiful Il Bottaccio the collection spanned the room, offering Christmas themes, a bit of Pop colour and a super natural space to boot along with dwell's signature blend of quality, design, affordability and compact living style - here are some highlights...

You can see more from the collection on the dwell website here - it can't hit the stores soon enough!!

Project Bathroom #4

For the past two weeks I've had to put up with a dusty, incomplete, grubby bathroom. As it stands, we have a bath - success! The taps do not work, instead we have a copper pipe temporarily in place that has to be turned on or off with a screwdriver, there is also only hot water - fail! Our lovely plumber friend is going to make the taps work today in return for a takeaway - as for when the bathroom will actually be complete, your guess is as good as mine.

In the meantime I've been dreaming of accessories and finishing touches - I know I'm a little ahead of myself but it's keeping me sane, here's my wishlist so far...

Brights Toilet Brush & Holder - £20, John Lewis

Traditional Toilet Roll Holder - £32, Rockett St. George

Hermione Glass Bottles, from £8.99, Zara Home

Mermaid Lampshade - from £26, Lush Lamp Shades

Hammered Accessories - from £10.50, Casa Couture at HoF

Decorative Coral Bowl - £89, dwell

Meg Mathews for dwell launch party

Last night saw the collection launch for the Meg Mathews for dwell range (you may have seen the Q&A with Meg last week) - taking place at the dwell flagship on Tottenham Court Road the party was in full swing with the likes of Meg, Rosemary Ferguson, James Brown and Sadie Frost in attendance to name a few. The collection looked great and the cushions are even lovelier in the flesh, so to speak, than they are in the photos.

Taking on a whole variety of sizes and designs the cushions work brilliantly together as much as they do on their own. As much as I would love the lot, sadly, as you may know from reading previous posts, I'm on a budget, I will however be investing the silver/grey crown cushion you can see tucked at the back, what a beauty!

S&S MEETS: Meg Mathews

Yesterday I got the chance to do a Q&A with celebrity, socialite, blogger and now interior designer Meg Mathews. Telling all about her new collection for interiors retailer dwell, her inspirations and what's next, here's what she had to say...

Why did you decide to team up with dwell?
I’ve always loved the brand and had a real passion for interiors, my collection for dwell has been the ideal opportunity to explore this further.

What was your inspiration/influence for the collection?
My daughter loves babushka dolls, she has a huge collection and one in particular always stood out, a neon pink one that was the main inspiration for the central design for the collection, and of course skulls are a part of my signature logo. Inspiration was also taken from the range of limited edition scarves I created for Liberty.

Which is your favourite item from the range?
My favourite has to be the duvet set. The Babushka doll print is very striking on the black background and I absolutely love the femininity created by the bows at the base.

What is your key interiors tip?
Lighting is absolutely key, it has the ability to completely transform the look and feel of a room.

What is your most treasured possession?
This is of course my daughter Anais. If I had to choose one material item I think I'd go for my beautiful Goyard trunk. I came across it in a junk yard so it was a real bargain too.

And finally, what are your future plans?
I am continuing to work with dwell as well as working with Cochrane Design and Rachel Galley jewellery, I also work on my own website Megsays.co.uk

The exclusive Meg Mathews for dwell range comprises of a selection of stunning 100% silk cushions as well as a bold and beautiful bedlinen set, all adorned with the signature skull logo and pretty babushka doll print. The collection will be hitting stores next week and I for one will be first in the queue!
