Part of my money-saving strategy is to use the underground/buses as little as possible. Buying a monthly travelcard from my out-of-town village is pretty pricey so I've opted for the monthly-return-to-London-and-Oyster-card option. Yes it can definitely be a drag/inconvenient/take a lot longer/be a lot colder and a lot more effort but I also love it, not least because it gives me the chance to get views like this - taken this morning from the Millenium Bridge, beautiful.
